THE BARN

Step into SugarTide's welcoming barn, where thoughtful organization meets equine comfort.

Our spacious facility boasts eight 10x12 stalls, five 10x9 foot cross-tie stations, and two additional wall tie areas. The soft wood floors and rubber matting in each stall and cross-tie station ensure horses are happy and comfortable during grooming and tacking up.

Equipped with individual sets of tools, every cross-tie station and stall area is designed for convenience. Horses in stalls enjoy water buckets and automatic water dispensers to promote hydration. Each stall is fitted with a hanging salt lick, an optional wall mineral block, and attachments for environmental enrichment toys like Lick It's and Horse Balls. Quality shavings from Top Spray Sawmills provide cozy bedding, and our dedicated staff ensures stalls are cleaned twice daily.

Adjacent to the barn, a fully outfitted washroom complements our full-size wash rack, offering tie-up and cross-tie options, on-demand hot water, pressure washing wands, and a hose-attachable shampoo dispenser.

In the front barn, you will find a comfortable visitors lounge, ideal for relaxing with a warm or cold beverage while awaiting lessons. A dedicated office facilitates meetings and planning, complete with secure document storage. Arena-side whiteboards keep everyone informed, displaying details from farrier rotations to lesson plans.

The tack room accommodates all school horse tack and grooming kits, alongside full-size client lockers featuring personalized signs and blanket storage shelves. Additional lockers in the back barn, along with ample space for show boxes and personal tack lockers, offer flexibility. The back barn houses the arena viewing bar, providing high-backed chairs and a lounge area for spectators.

In both barns, personalized blanket hook sets streamline organization, offering easy access and storage for 'in use' blankets and halters. The back barn features a classroom, feed room, and trainer tack room, ensuring horses' feed and supplements are stored in optimal conditions. Proud customers of the Okotoks Mill Store, we source all equine feed and supplement needs from trusted providers.

Looking ahead, exciting projects include a solarium installation, the acquisition of a Bemer system for horse well-being, and the development of a trainer tack room in the back barn to optimize space usage.

OUR PADDOCKS

SugarTide is proud to be equipped with multiple sizable paddocks, where horse comfort and safety take centre stage. With a focus on a scientific approach to equine well-being, our paddocks are designed to provide a safe and natural roaming herd environment for our four-legged friends.

Our medium group paddocks host a maximum of five horses each, ensuring a balanced and comfortable living space for every equine resident. We've implemented innovative 24/7 feeding solutions such as robust bale nets from Lone Star Tack and Feed, to prevent wastage and encourage trickle feeding, promoting both physical and mental health.

Safety is paramount, and our round bale feeders from UFA are chosen for their durability and ease of maintenance. Access to lush grass during the spring and summer allow our horses to enjoy the natural elements, enhancing their overall quality of life. Our sawdust-bedded corrugated tin and wood shelters offer horses a comfortable retreat from the elements.

The three-rail wood fencing, complemented by electric fence and steel panels, provide secure enclosures for our horses. Sturdy gates ensure easy access to each field while maintaining a controlled environment. To further safeguard against mud, our paddocks are equipped with excellent drainage.

Spring heralds a thorough cleaning of our paddocks, ensuring a fresh start for the season. Yearly weeding is part of our commitment to maintaining a pristine environment, creating a harmonious space for both horses and riders.

At SugarTide, we understand that a happy, healthy horse begins with a well-designed and meticulously cared-for living space. Join us in creating a haven for your equine companion, where safety, comfort, and natural equine behaviour come together seamlessly.
